VP of Community Engagement Role in the Organization
In coordination with the senior leadership team, develop and manage collaborations with corporations, diverse groups, healthcare and community partners, and other stakeholders.
He develops and executes strategies to advance the mission of the organization.
So he works closely with the following executives on board:
- Chief Development Officer
- Chief Medical Officer
- Also, Chief Administrative Officer
- Chief Nursing Official

- and other staff to develop strategies for community partnerships
Coordinates with the Executive Director of Community Engagement to develop programs that meet the needs of the community.
This may include:
- providing technical assistance on health issues
- developing collaborations with local organizations
- developing program sponsorship opportunities
- And developing relationships with local businesses and corporations
- identifying potential grant opportunities
- identifying potential volunteers for the organization
- And identifying potential donors and funders for the organization
- developing partnerships with individuals and organizations.
Works closely with the Board of Directors and senior leadership team.
They work together to ensure that policies, procedures, and practices are consistent with the community engagement strategies.
For example, an organization partnering with a corporation on a new initiative may need to make sure policies are in place to avoid any conflicts of interest. Also, to involve the community in the development of programs and policies, the organization may need policies in place that outline who is eligible to serve on boards or volunteer.
Lead fundraising efforts
He may also lead and develop a budget that supports the organization’s community engagement work. Of which may also be including identifying potential funding opportunities that leverage the organization’s strengths.
Enter into partnerships with healthcare and community organizations.
A VP of community engagement may also enter into partnerships with other organizations to share expertise, resources, and staff time to meet community needs.
Lead strategic planning efforts.
A VP of community engagement may lead strategic planning efforts to help align the work of the organization with the vision statement.
Through this process, he may identify priorities that are not being addressed by the organization. For example, an organization’s strategic plan may reveal a need to focus on improving asthma management in minority communities. This priority would help guide the organization in deciding where to focus its resources.
Identify limitations of current program or service offerings.
A process for strategic planning may also result in identifying shortcomings in the organization’s current program or service offerings. This information would help the organization determine where to focus future efforts.
For example, a strategic planning effort may reveal that the organization’s asthma education program is not reaching enough minority communities. In response, the organization may decide to develop a new program that focuses on educating minority communities about asthma.
